![]() Two golfers were talking about golf. One of them said, “I shoot in the 70′s.” The other replied, “That’s great!” The first one said, “Yeah, if it gets any cooler than that, I go to the clubhouse.” Playing golf in cool weather is really nice and we are thinking about it this time of year when it's hot. This is a good time of year though to be working on your game as golf fees are lower in the summer. You can achieve scoring goals like shooting under 100 or even under 80 with practice and focus on the statistics! How to do it? Here are the key stats and objectives: Statistics: if you you can hit a certain number of greens in regulation (GIR) and have only a certain number of putts you can, on average, achieve a certain score. Here are the numbers:
(This assumes there are no big blow up holes so try to avoid penalty strokes, double chips and 3 putts) Keep track of your stats on the scorecard (D = drive in the fairway, G = green in regulation, note the number of putts for each hole) |

-Hit a drive in the fairway making it easier for an approach shot to the green
-Learn to make good contact with approach shots to the green
-Get proficient with pitch, chip, lob and bunker play when you miss the green
Contributors to fewer putts:
-Eliminate 3 putts with accurate green reads and speed
-Learn to judge the speed of greens before the round
-Get chip shots or short pitches/lobs close for a 1 putt
